KITEBOARDING LESSONS

We offer a few different lesson types depending on your experience and goals. We have a group course which is only for people who have never tried kiteboarding before. It is designed to give you a taste of the sport at an affordable price. From there if you like it you can purchase private or semi-private lessons.

Private lessons offer the most progression as you don’t have to share the kite or instructor with anyone else. Our kiteboarding lessons are a 2-hour minimum but 3 is a good amount of time as well.

Semi-private lessons are good for two people who are at the same level and are around the same size. This way they can share the instructor and the same size kite and learn from each other. This lesson type is also a minimum length of 2 hours but we recommend 3-4 hour lessons to maximize your progression and time on the water.

If you are looking for kiteboarding lessons near Vancouver, Squamish is definitely the place to go. With amazing wind, great instructors and boat supervision.

Advanced, foiling and more!

We also offer upwind drops for our more beginner independent riders as well as camps and team lessons to help our instruction meet any budget.

Crash courses, Private lessons and Semi private hourly lessons

At Vancouver Kiteboarding we get you into the world of kiteboarding / kitesurfing quicker than anywhere else. There are a few ways to go about taking your lessons with us.

The Crash Course

The 4 hour Crash Course is a great way to figure out whether kiteboarding is for you or not. The first hour is an instructional video for you to watch at home. Usually, when taking kiteboarding lessons, your first lessons starts on the beach. For about an hour you talk to your instructor about the necessary theory you need to know. You learn about the wind, the right conditions and how to do a proper site assessment. We save you this time by sending you an instructional video. You can watch that video at home as many times as you like and the more you watch it the better prepared you will be. The remaining 3 hours are spent on the water. On your own, in a pair or with a group of 4 students and one instructor this is a fast-paced and exciting lesson. You will learn how to control the kite and if you feel comfortable enough you can try and get up on the board as well.

Private Kiteboarding Lessons

If you already know that this is something you really want to get into (maybe you have already taken a Crash Course before) a great way to go about it is by taking private lessons. This means it is only you and the instructor and you will have the instructor’s full attention while using the kite the whole time. This is certainly the fastest way to progress to an independent level. Usually it takes people between 8 to 15 hours of private instructions to get to a level where they are able to go out by themselves but as kiteboarding is skill based, some ride comfortably faster and others take longer to get the hang of it. Instead of buying private lessons by the hour you can choose between two different packages. The 6 hour and a 10-hour private lesson package. By purchasing a package, you will be able to access some great savings as the price per hour drops based on the size of the package.

Semi-Private Hourly Lessons

When you are getting Semi private hourly lessons this means that you can learn with a friend. It will be the two of you and one instructor. This is one of the best ways to progress quickly. Most people don’t just learn by doing but also by watching. By being able to sit back and watch while the other person is handling the kite you get a 3rd person view and understand how to handle the kite even better. When you purchase Semi private hourly lessons you can always get them by the hour or in a package of 6 or 10 at a time.  By purchasing a package, you will be able to access some great savings as the price per hour drops based on the size of the package.
